AND

Logicalbeginner

AND evaluates multiple conditions and returns TRUE only when every single one is met. Most commonly used inside IF to test multiple criteria at once. Think of it as 'this AND that AND the other thing must ALL be true.'

Syntax

Excel:=AND(logical1, [logical2], ...)

Google Sheets: Same syntax

Parameters

logical1The first condition to evaluate.

logical2?Additional conditions (up to 255).

? = optional parameter

Worked Example

Check if an invoice is both over $10,000 AND from the Engineering department.

Formula

=AND(B2>10000, C2="Engineering")

Result

TRUE

AND checks whether B2 is greater than 10,000 and whether C2 equals 'Engineering'. In row 2, both conditions are true, so the formula returns TRUE.
